About our founder
I’m Alicia—a certified holistic nutritionist with a lifelong passion for wellness and a personal mission to help others reclaim their health. In 2008, I launched and operated a personal training studio, combining fitness with hands-on client support. Over time, I realized fitness alone wasn’t enough—especially as I watched my grandmother, aunt, and two uncles pass away from preventable, chronic illnesses. None of them made it to see their 62nd birthdays. It was heartbreaking and traumatic to witness. I knew something had to change. At the age of 40, I completely overhauled my own nutrition and made a promise to break the cycle.
In 2021, my own health took a confusing and unexpected turn. A routine blood test revealed a positive ANA result—a marker that can signal autoimmune activity. My doctor referred me to a rheumatologist for further testing. From there, I saw multiple specialists, including a neurologist and a cardiologist. Each one ran a full set of labs, scans, and evaluations… and yet, they all came back with the same answer: “You’re perfectly healthy.” On paper, I was a model of good health—but I knew something wasn’t right. I was scared, overwhelmed, and frustrated by the lack of real answers.
In the meantime, I was haunted by symptoms like headaches, dizziness, fatigue, nerve symptoms, anxiety, joint and muscle pain, heart palpitations, brain fog, and insomnia. I felt lost and dismissed. Like many of my clients, I was doing “everything right” and still felt deeply unwell.
For almost a year, I tried just about everything—until I came across a Medical Medium® book. That moment shifted everything. I finally had explanations about what was happening in my body and how to support it. Through natural, food-based protocols and simple, consistent changes, I began to heal.
The entire experience lit a fire in me. I became inspired to get certified through AFPA and to create Root Effect. The goal is simple: to help others feel seen, supported, and empowered in their healing journey—especially those dealing with chronic or mystery symptoms that no one has been able to explain.
